In 2010 I was frequently in Gerlach during the event and spent time with a few Undercovers shooting the shit and sharing a beer. One Reno cop who had worked there for years said things had changed for the worse in his experience. When asked for specifics he said that the relationship with the Rangers had gotten worse and he didn't want to come back. Mind you, he was paid to be there!
That said...I heard the phrase from more than one, 'Stupid Tax'. So The Man has a point.
If you are walking down the Esplanade with a Bong in your hand...you deserve the ticket that you will most likely get.
