Do you work with radios or telecommunications equipment for a living or have a related solid technical background? We are seeking volunteers to help with the small and dedicated Communications Radio Group of the Emergency Services Department 911.burningman.com/ to set up, maintain and evolve the existing two way radio infrastructure. We are listing some of the requirements below as being representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to participate in ESD's Comm Radio Group. If you feel this describes you and you have a desire to help out year round (generally in San Francisco, Reno or Gerlach) or on playa in August or September, please contact us by sending a message from here: 911.burningman.com/contact.php

* Working knowledge of modern procedures, practices and techniques used in the installation, maintenance and repair of two-way communication systems and equipment.
* Working knowledge of the use, calibration and care of various electronic test equipment.
* Working knowledge of complex integrated circuits, microprocessors, synthesizers and interface units.
* Working knowledge of theory and principle of electronics, circuits and electrical communications.
* Working knowledge of the FCC standards, procedures, rules and regulations governing radio communications.
* Working knowledge of the safety hazards involved in working with electronic equipment.
* Reasonable skill in the use of related tools and diagnostic equipment.
* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as algebraic formulas.
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
* Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
