Dear Burning Man Staff, It is with great consideration and a bit of sadness that I am writingyou now to say I am resigning from the Black Rock City LLC and my dutieswith Burning Man. I have had the privilege of creating much of theinfrastructure and process you work with. I hope that I have had apositive effect on the culture of Burning Man that we all share andspread. My favorite part of everything I have been involved with hasbeen working with all of you. If anyone ever wonders what Burning Manreally is I can say I know. It is you, the people that make it happen.Thank you for sharing this time with me. It has been an honor. I have been with the organization for 17 years. It has been my lifework thus far. When I started it was everything for me. Though I hadanother full time job and “did Burning Man” as a volunteer effort, itquickly eclipsed everything else I did and was. I spent may yearsimmersed in my work. Somehow along the way, though it seemed that therewas not the time or space, I managed to create a wonderful family. Asmy daughter grows I can see there is a world beyond the one I have sohappily been living in. I am leaving the organization to spend moretime with my daughter and explore what else I have to offer. I will be leaving at the end of January. I look forward to seeing howquickly my footsteps are filled and how the new opportunities that mydeparture creates will be addressed. This is prime time fororganizational change and growth. I am excited to see how this talentedgroup will prosper. With fond regards, Harley K. Dubois

Good for her (Harley). She’s a great painter/artist. Perhaps now she can go back to doing her own artwork.

I've been slowly getting to see how this org works over the last 6 years and all I can say is, these are fascinating people doing incredible things. In comparison to other org.s I've been involved in, this one is amazing. Sure, everything has their amount of crappy shit, but I am consistently impressed with the things I see and hear. I dont understand what causes some of you to complain that this org is so seriously jacked it demands your back. Everythings got it's level of fucked upness. But in the world of fuckedupness, I'd rather be hanging with these peeps than the boring ass masses.

Sounds like Harley is doing what a lot of people do after a time in a company or group, taking her lessons learned and experiences ( good and bad) and moving on to other ventures. Good for her.

Due to the sensitive nature of the work and the fact that we are currently fighting a war on two fronts, we must never speak of Special Agent #9 or questions the actions of our new leader.

Wow, this place is a mess.

I haven't been up here in months. Read some of the moderator stuff, but it took Shooter to actually post something relevant to what I'm interested in. I was wondering if Harley was the one, and it appears she is. Congratulations to her.

As far as the Afterburn reports are concerned, I'm the project manager for them and I'm building out the templates for this year, this weekend. And we have a ton of reports ready to be coded. We're going to get the report out sooner this year, than ever before, so I'm not sure why whomever it was who said, the art curator is gone, Harley's moved on and the AB is over, but they got 2 out of three correct.

There will be an Afterburn this year.

                        Cheers

                          >We're going to get the report out sooner this year, than ever before,<

I don't doubt that you will get the text out, I don't doubt you will do it faster than ever before. Here's some text fromthe 2007 one
                          'AFTERBURN REPORT 2007
                          FINANCIAL CHART
This report is not yet complete, and is forthcoming. Thank you for your patience.'

You all must have easy colleges and jobs out there. If I handed in incomplete work I'd get a failing grade. And I certainly wouldn't tell my boss what a grand report this year's will be when I still haven't completed last year's. And it's sad for all those who work hard to hand in good verbal reports that folks who control the financial report don't see fit to show the same respect to the reading audience as you do. And honestly we can say that we don't have a right to the financials. And, I'm OK with that but at least they should grow a pair and come out and say that.

And again, none of this has anything to do with those that supply the verbal content for the report. You all do great but the report as it was is no longer published.

    Y'all tickle me.

Is Burning Man a life sentence? Can't people get interested in something else and want to pursue other goals in life? A sustainable organization should be set up so that people would be *expected* to move on to something else in their life at some point. People get interest in other things.

I say "happy trails" and thanks for all the hard work.
