Electric Golf Cart for Sale

The first person with $1300 gets a fully functional, playafied golf cart with art.

It's all electric, so it is very quiet. It is wired so that if you want to charge it with solar you can.

It's got switches added to the dash that light up and handle some extra 12v goodies. It has custom led headlights and led ambient lights that change color inside on the roof.

It has locking trunk, which can serve as extra seating... or strap on a cooler. There is a light in the trunk.

It has an optional roof with an optional back windscreen. I attached a black light on top and used it as a message board that I could change on a whim.

It also has a spare tire so you don't waste your vacation dealing with a flat!

What else.... oh pull out cup holders. And there are bellydancer jingles for the fabric I throw on the roof. It sounds fabulous!

If you get lucky you might find one for $500 less, but expect potential issues with batteries or a charger.... and certainly will not have functional custom work.

Not going to accept less, particularly due to the custom work, because then I'd rather keep it!

God... I'm so on the fence on this... but I guess I'd rather take the cash and wait to do something again in 2009. ......It was soo fun whizzing out to the perimeter on a whim at 4am....

See my profile for pictures.

Sorry, I changed my mind after reviewing Craigslist.

There's nothing like this.... I'm asking $1700 and am prepared to sit on it until someone comes along that will appreciate what has been put into this sweet little ride.

I'll give you $2,300 and that's my final offer!!!!!!

Your fucking wacky. For $2500 you can get an electric CAR!!!! Your golfcart is worth, as you said, $500. And you have to have sex with someone at DMV to drive it at BM.

As a disabled status this was the best I could do and was grateful for their understanding. I don't need to name names, but believe me there was a reason for this getting disabled status.

And Chicken go pick your nose or another campaign contributor.

And good luck finding your new electric golf cart for $2500... oh and be sure to tell everyone else where, so they can line up for it.

Disabled vehicles do not require mutation, but the DMV applauds the efforts of applicants who get in the spirit of mutating their ride.

                  I agree with you Red.

I really liked Twitch Taxi and there's also that big skull like thing that has hand controls. Hot Wheels Camp rocks!

Unfortunately, what I did with my cart was the best I could do... And I've done much better art cars before my accident.

I am grateful that I was accepted and was able to enjoy BM. Without it, I would not have gone. It was still challenging for me... and having this golf cart made a huge difference in my experience.

Good question.... just thinking of him and you too.

I cannot even begin to think of donating my vehicle. I am selling it because I need the cash.

I offer it here not because I can't sell it on Craiglist, but would like to offer a Burner a shot at it.

So yes... Mr. Fixit.. what to do? If the community wants to donate money to this golf cart, he is the only person I would discount it to for use in his camp. ...Just an idea.

Got a buyer coming to look at it Saturday, so we don't have lots of time.

....And for those of you that don't know what Mr. Fixit (Dale I believe) does, he loans wheelchairs and golf carts to disabled people to enjoy the playa for a couple hours a day. Lots of disabled people don't have the ability to bring/afford such a luxury. He's a wonderful guy with a big heart who makes a big difference for a lot of people.

Mr. Fixit loans golf carts to people with spinal cord injury (or SCI as it is sometimes abbreviated), that is, not to all disabled people.

SCI is certainly a horrible condition for sure. However, I never heard him say that, but it certainly changes absolutely nothing about how awesome I think he is or how willing I am to contribute to what he does.

I'm pretty damned busy ...but maybe I'll try reaching him tonight. ..off to work.

I know at least 6 people (including my dad) who has a disabled status golf cart that can kick my ass at tennis. I actually could qualify for handicapped twice! If you're good looking and have good phone skillz, you get a DMV pass. Or if your handicapped. Or if you lie.

Although I'm not an art critic, golf carts are generally worth $500. Yours has been to BRC. So it's probably worth less. Unless you totally tore it apart and cleaned it, the alkylid corrossion is eating the electronics at thins moment. Your batteries will likely only charge to 85% and the regulator is likely totally corroded. Silt gets in all those cheap wheel bearings. Just because there isn't another golf cart for sale on Craigslist this week doesn't mean you've got a corner on the market.

I find it annoying that you are using this tribe to sell your chakas.

Hot Wheelz loans carts to anybody with a mobility disability. You do not have to be SCI. I am SCI and would be pissed if that was a criteria to get a loaner from that camp. There are a whole slew of injuries and conditions that are in just as much need as an SCI.

Ummm I dont think I made any kind of comment about its disabled status. I was commenting on the fact that it is incredibly lame to try to sell stuff on this Tribe, even if it is burner related. If everyone who wanted to sell something related to Burning Man put it up here this tribe would be nothing but classified adds. I will admit the comment about the value of art was rather rude, and entirely based on my subjective opinion. But I find people treating our tribe as a classified site rude so I really dont feel to bad about it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I re-read the initial post, and I found no mention of any handicapped status.

But even if there had been, would that somehow make it acceptable to list something for sale in Topics? I don't understand why, if people DO want to list something for sale, they can't simply post it under "Listings". Just sayin'.

I didn't put alot of thought into the ad that I wrote in all of about a minute and put on Tribe and Craigslist. There is a difference between listings and postings. I just never used the former ever and I've been on Tribe for a long time....

Of course not. Your manner makes you such. It's a high compliment, sir. But while we're on the subject, asking people to abide to the TOU is almost entirely pointless on this tribe. Simply ignore a thread if it so offends you, that's the best way to make it go away.

A small but visible percentage of Black Rock City’s population participates by becoming part of the Mutant Vehicle community. With over 40,000 people and 500 MVs, the motorized few are in a position to affect the experiences of many.

    tribes.tribe.net/bmmv/phot...402ffab492

In 2007 around 300 static art pieces were outnumbered by 500 mutant vehicles at what is primarily a bike and pedestrian event.

Exceptional mutant vehicles defy replication and have few venues for display outside the playa, with many representing originality in singular form and function.

For disabled transport I gotta say it flat out rocks, especially considering we don't even require disabled vehicles to be even decorated (much less altered). At $1700 it's a deal in real world terms (at the least).

Your buyers would pretty much need to be disabled and able to prove it too though as actual mutant vehicles are by nature altered from production condition and this appears to be very nice but still production condition (probably not the correct words but you know what I mean).

"At $1700 it's a deal in real world terms (at the least). "

I think so. One of the potential buyers is coming from Sonoma to look at. They like the idea that the wiring has been altered to accommodate solar powered charging. And that the lights are LED which conserves battery. I'm sooo not worried about selling it at that price.

here is a link to a perfect golf cart with solar power that is it tip top perfect shape with a cover and a $300 charger that is one owner and has less than 100 hours on it asking $2,000 but will take $1,500. Yours is junk compared to this. Your golf cart is worth $500. I do this all day every day. I know how much a golf cart is worth. That doesn't mean that you can't take advantage of someone and they'll pay it because they don't know but they will now if they read this:

        sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/for...197.html

here is another perfect one for $1,950

        sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/rvs...790.html

Here is one for $1,100 with new batteries and tires:

        sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/rvs...521.html

here is a street legal electirc CAR for $4,300 (they'll take much less)

        sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/car...197.html

The wiring to accomodate solar is worth $50 or so. The panels are for sale for $120.

I just don't like commerce around this tribe. I don't know if anyone agrees with me, and I don't care. If you posted your cart for sale to the community at like, less then the appropriate price, I would't mind. But your not. In my opinion your gouging. Anyone who pays you $1,700 for your golf cart is making an error. You can buy them for $500. You'll sell yours to someone like me for $500. I buy golf carts. Sometimes just for the battery's and we junk the rest. Most carts have 6 $120 batteries. the motors are valuable to robot and machine art guys. SRL is basicly built with golf cart motors.

I dunno. I just found your post annoying.

Broad interpretations, based on liberally defined parameters allow for Mutant Vehicle creations of varying community contribution and interest. The DMV's primary considerations based on the BRC Supplementary Rules are that they exhibit one or all features of being highly participatory, visually stimulating, and whimsically beautiful or surreal contribution to Black Rock City. Freedom in rules and definitions allow for exceptions to tow vehicle / base vehicle recognition.

Unless your fucking someone at the DMV, and then you can get a new permit every year for the same old piece of shit with a different paint job or whatever because the system is corrupt and you can't vote on which cars get the permit.

Corrupt. Just like every other system where one person doesn't get one vote.

I'd cite an example, but 95% of the cars out there are an example.

If you think the DMV is not doing its job well, you are welcome to get involved, come learn the complexities and realities of the what we do and must deal with, and see if you can make a positive influence towards what you think would be better.

The DMV operates on community consensus, with a large percentage of volunteer Hotties originating from the mutant and art car community.

Not the way people who were interested in community involvlement would do it. Not the way people who have watched other arts orginazations fail lwould do it. It's the way it's done though. Yup. Sure it. That's how they do it.

I gaurentee you that they don't want my help. I've mutated 100 cars. At least. Drove them across the country for years. Shows, parades, won the Art Car parade in 1997 in Houston, did a Frozen Bug ice cream truck in Death Valley for a while... I'm no strange to the art car or the process.

DMV does not operate on community consensus. That is an assenine statement. My dad has a handicapped golf cart. There is simply nothing wrong with him at all. Nothing. But since it's not really that "arty", he went that route. So that is a fact. I'd tell you about 10 more, but then they'd all be pissed at me. Then I know people who have done ground up mods... only to have DMV tell them that they simply didn't like it. Tuff shit.

Sucks. Top to bottom. Democratic selection of art is the only answer to fix any and all of the problems. Anything else is just a boring, trite waste of time becaue Nepotism adn favoritizm will be the law of the land. Exactly how it is right now.

just like handicapped plackards in the real world are a fucking joke it's the same in BRC. Anyone who can cheat, will. Does. And the mechanism to stop it? There isn't one. The answer? Give everyone a chance to vote on who is what and where and why. Remove people's '"rights"... they are just all abused. Don't agree with me or don't like what I'm saying? Congradulations. You've won the arguement. These ideas will never be put in motion. So you can continue to be on the winning team.

The DMV doesn't fashion poorly executed Mutant Vehicles that make a minimal contribution. Event attendants who value their personal conveyance over community contribution do.

It's up to the creator to understand that base vehicle recognition spoils the surreal and whimsical overall appearance of a mutant vehicle on the playa.

            tribes.tribe.net/bmmv/phot...5083cf74f6

DMV volunteers are not in a position to asses disabled qualifications beyond a placard or certification of disability. If driving a vehicle at the event is the primary goal, then loopholes are abundant. Place the blame on the driver, not the DMV.

That one is wrong on several levels.

              Treehugger? Please...
              1) environmentally wrong vehicle
              2) too recognizable
              3) no artistic comment from me
              4) what is it "supposed to be"? (my best guess is a big ass saw)
              5) i feel bad for the person that put time and resources in this

I'm curious Red.... some of these projects take a good part of a year to create and lots of resources. How EARLY can one get a preliminary approval on these projects?

Online Mutant Vehicle pre-registration is required. This includes reading and understanding all information about Mutant Vehicles on the playa, and filling out the online form. If you do not pre-register your Mutant Vehicle, you will not be eligible for a Mutant Vehicle license. Pre-registration begins on February 15th and ends on June 30. We've given you a lot to think about when filling out the pre-registration form. You will be asked to include a photo or sketch of your vehicle, the safety considerations you are making, detailed information about the vehicle, and your intent in bringing this vehicle to Burning Man. You'll also be asked to agree in advance to honor BRC driving protocols.

                burningman.com/on_the_pla...es/dmv.html

Typically a response is given within a month of submission. That can change based on the complexity or requirement for a broader review and consensus of multiple volunteer Hotties.

I wouldn't worry about trying to change Chicken John's mind, Red. He has his opinions and his experience and it a classic "Burning Man has Gone to Pot" attitude, yet won't leave the sidelines. Nothing you do will ever be good enough for him, and I doubt he'll ever attend the event again.

If you're just putting out your side of the story then forgive this damn advice.

Thank you Crypto. That was a succinct way of putting it.

I scratch my head and wondered why I wasted my money contributing to him running for mayor. I guess I don't know him as well as I do now. He has revealed a very nasty side of himself.

And not that I care anymore what anyone thinks about the price or desirability of the cart. The person that helped with the modification of this cart and two others that I have worked on is the president of the auto electric association. He knows more about electric cars than 99%+ of the population and I feel lucky to call him a friend on many levels. I asked for his opinion on price and he says, for its condition, it's about right. ...As for his other comments why bother to respond?

I would consider deleting the thread but I think it has value in discussing the DMV and HotWheelz camp. Both of which provide outstanding service to the community... on a VOLUNTEER basis.

(I'd change the title maybe if I could, but hell, maybe it helps give the damn thing traction.)

Social network for some. Soap box for others. Lot's of eyes. Not a bad place to front some realities.

What is the balance between mobile and static art at an event on public land with BLM restrictions on driving?

    tribes.tribe.net/bmmv/phot...9a03c6b77f

Each and every year the Mutant Vehicle fleet improves. The creative inflation and cumulative efforts and commitments of many have come to overshadow the early efforts of a few.

    tribes.tribe.net/bmmv/phot...87d7de1b14

It is no small accomplishment to imagine, design and construct an exceptional Mutant Vehicle and it usually takes a well organized crew of resourceful and talented individuals with a considerable commitment of funds.

This isn't my nasty side, although I do have one. You supported my bid for mayor for exactly what I'm doing here. But I was doing it to someone else. I wasn't trying to be mayor. I was trying to make a point. That our community is fragile and should be championed and protected. I think your post does a terrible job of that. And I'm saying so plainly. I don't dislike you. I just think you wrote a kinda snotty post and your using the community discussion tool for commerce so using the power that I have I turned this topic into something relevant for us to discuss. This is my attempt at leadership. No, I don't think it worked very well either.

."Long time contributors to the event such as Jim Mason, Chicken John, Dann Davis and Michael Christian benefit yearly due to the the dedication of a few for the benefit of many. "

I have no idea what this bizzare sentence means but I personally have received very very little if no money from anything ever. I never really got a paycheck from BM, I've never been a funded artist (although my name has been used for it's celebrity) and I havn't made anything myself since '98 when I made the Wizard of Ass. Although I worked on a lot of stuff.

So I went to your profile. Sundancer. Your name is just a bunch of Q#$%#$&#% in the little box when you post. There are no photos of you. I don't remember meeting anyone named Sundancer. But it got me thinking: dancing. People who can't walk can't dance. Then, I noticed SCUBA diving and other stuff on your tribe thingy....

            here it all is:

Interested in gardening, kayaking and more sports of any kind this summer. In no particular order; hand drumming, dancing, making great food with friends, camping, creating anything (especially that challenges my skills or allows me to acquire new ones), fluent in French and love the culture, scuba diving, costuming, art and nature is all its shapes and colors, the tranquility and comfort of my creekside home, seeking eternal youth and profound wisdom, tendency to prefer being with an intimate group of friends in calm settings over large parties with big sound systems, traveling in my funky, comfy RV..

Dancing. Your interested in dancing. Me too. I like to dance.

Didn't you say you had a handicapped plackard for your golf cart? I may be setting myself up here for an eviceration.... but can't people who can dance walk or ride a bike? Are you adn my dad and everyone else that I know who has a handicapped plackard at BM not embracing your hightest truth?

Please slice me into little pieces now.

Playing Devil's Advocate, Sundancer, but it's not completely out of line for Chicken to have brought up the question. By your own admission, you neither mentioned handicapped status in your initial post nor made mention of it anywhere in your profile. I'm not saying it's your responsibility to trumpet it to the world, but it's not *that* far a reach for the question to have popped into anyone's brain.

yea. I'm a total asshole. And everyone I know who has a handicapped plackard is a lyeing piece of shit. I *despise* that action. That we need handicapped plackards at all... that people will be so selfish as to abuse that system, which should be more or less sacred.... that at something like BM where we are supposed to be a fucntional community... I have 10 hour long arguements with my dad (Larry's lawyer) about John Laws' rights to the *idea* of BM... he explains to me the law. Then he goes and gets his golf cart registered as handicapped so he doesn't have to deal with DMV. And so do like 10 or 15 other people I know. It literally boils my blood.

I'd love to have a golf cart at BM. And truth be told, I do borrow dads. So I'm just as bad or worse.

People who have handicapped plackards, in my experience, are full of shit. I've yet to meet one that's not. That's my experience. Your mileage may vary.

So check this out: I've taken your post about commerce and chose a topic to discuss within our community. This is now a community topic. Because your too spoiled to remove a post that you've admitted doesn't even belong here although you would have if you've have sold it but you didn't because your asking an astronomic price for it. Cause and effect. I'm trying annoy you and villanize you to delete this thread. That's my deal. That's who I am. I'm protecting people from you. It's what people like me do. You say I'm an asshole now, but if on this thread I busted someone for having a fake handicapped plackard, you'd buy me a drink. You don't like the negative things I'm saying because I'm saying them to you. If I flat out busted someone and you are handicapped or whatever PC way to say that... I'd be your hero.

I'm feeding my own father to the lions here to make a point. Your not participating in the discussion, your just kinda hit and run.

You can say i"m an asshole. It really doesn't bother me, I'm not trying to impress you. But you can't disagree with me. Getting a handicapped plackard when there is nothing wrong with you at BM is bathed in vileness. Right?

In episode 507, Penn and Teller expose the widely abused nonsense that is "handicap parking" and illuminate the bureaucratic nightmare of the Americans with Disabilities Act by speaking to disabled Americans who think the ADA is pure BS.

Was a good watch, I couldn't believe how easy it was for anyone to claim they were handicapped and get a placard. Not saying that there isn't a need just saying CJ isn't just pulling something out of thin air.

The ADA is far worse then the war on terror or any other erosion of our liberties. The abuses that are snowballing are out of control. The people this serves vs. the people it destroys are tipped so far out of balance that the benifits are impossible to see. I know the arguement. I respect people who don't agree. But I can't remodel my house without comming to full compliance with 2008 ADA code. It's like an extra $150K. So if I ever sell it or have a guest over or what? 5 million dollar handicapped ramp at city hall adn they are laying off 5,000 people because of budget crisis. What fucking sense that makes I'll never know. I bet if they just *recomended* putting in the handicapped rails in the bathroom eveyrone would do it. I would. Just recomend making the doors biggger. I have a tough time following your logic. This thread never started as one about educating folks about the DMV or HotWheelz camp. It started as a sale pitch by you. When CJ derailed it then the education portion was provided. Said another way, you started a thread to sell something, CJ's actions turned it into education.

The other area I was confused by was your telling us about your food posioning and then in the same response telling someone, 'my health is none of your fucking business.'

                    Wow,
I just got a quick reminder why I bolted from this tribe over the winter. Why all the bickering? I don't get it.

As for "Mr. Fixit", he is a good friend of mine. AKA "Big Dale" Huntsman. I spend every year I attend, at he and his wifes' camp shootin' the shit and seeing handicapped folks borrow cool mutant vehicles to run around and check out BM. Never saw anyone abuse his loving goodness too much. A couple of people went on extended runs (not cool). But all of the folks I met were definitely handicapped. Giving to BM is an extension of his love of people. To maintain the ideals of BM and bring folks closer.

Dale retired this year and will be representing in '08 with his "Big Giant Head" and Hot Wheelz Camp.

I personally have given him wheelchair parts and batteries for his handicapped mutant vehicles and also given him a past mutant vehicle of mine to convert into a mutant for HotWheelz Camp. If you have anything you'd like to donate to Hot Wheelz Camp let me know. I'll forward your contact info to him. He'd be grateful as he is on a fixed income now.
He lives just north of Reno. ;-) We'll probably go camping and dirt biking this summer if anyone's interested. ;-)))

                    Roger

Chicken may be a fucking hypocrite (and I'm not so sure he is, he freely admitted using his dad's cart and any one of you would do the same, I sure as hell would!) but at least he's an HONEST fucking hypocrite. Everything he said about the golf cart was true, the price Sundancer was/is asking is fucking outrageous I don't know if if Sundancer has been dancing in the sun too long or what but even with the customization it's way too much for a golf cart, hell for that price you could get a used one of these: www.compacttractor.co.uk/Photo...2T.jpg much nicer than your average EZ-GO!

Hot Wheelz Camp kicks ass, does anyone know if they're affiliated with Veggies and Gimps camp?

Deciding which vehicles get licensed and which ones don't is one of the hardest jobs in the Burning Man community. Not every vehicle that applies for a license can or should be licensed. Hotties consider whether or not your vehicle will be able to capture every camera and eye as it rolls by.

...and I'm saying that if you give that power to anyone they will abuse it. Only democratic selection can *curb* the corrpution. Not even kill it all together. I concur that art selection is the hardest job at an arts festival. Too bad the powers that be won't even call BM an arts festival because of their huberus.

Got a free golf cart on Craigslist yesterday. Probably in better shape than Sundancers (but the batteries are shot).

All the carts on Craigslist that were there last week are still there. I'm sure the economy is stifiling all kinds of sales of things.
