Re: Cheap hotel in Reno?
Mon, July 21, 2008 - 10:43 PMHow cheap?
Over the years the prices during the week of burning man for many hotels has gone up due to supply-demand.
Here are 3 hotel-casinos with burner discounts (soon to be out in the updated Preparation - Reno Pages on the BM website -- stay tuned), but note that the discounts are limited to certain days....You may still find some rates you are comfortable with for the earlier days that you are looking for, especially as they are outside of this overall busy week for the area (labor day, rib cookoff, burning man, etc)? Note that the Grand Sierra Resort is the closest to the airport.
Club Cal Neva
38 E 2nd St - (Downtown)
The Club Cal Neva is offering a special package for Burners. Sunday-Thursday: $34.99; Fri-Sat $84.99. Visit www. clubcalneva.com/rooms.php and refer to code: BM08.
Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (formerly the Reno Hilton)
2500 E 2nd St. - 775-789-2000 - 800-501-2651
The Grand Sierra Resort is offering a special Burner package of $59 for “Grand Sierra” guest rooms; $110 for “The Summit” rooms; and 25% discount in RV park. Valid dates are August 25-27 and Sept. 1-3, 2008. Call 800.648.5080 and mention reservation code: BMAN. For more information on this hotel visit www.grandsierraresort.com/.
Sands Regency Casino Hotel
345 N Arlington Ave - 775-348-2200 - 800-648-3553 - (Downtown)
The Sands is offering a special Burner room rate of $34 Mon-Thurs; $74 Fri-Sun. Call 866.FUN.STAY and ask for code: BURN08. For more information on this hotel visit www.sandsregency.com/.
There are lots of motels all over the area though, with cheaper rates, if you were willing for lesser class and amenities -- here is a link to our area's hotels and motels (with a map to see where it is in the area):

Re: Cheap hotel in Reno?
Wed, July 23, 2008 - 1:10 PMAtlantis is cheap is far from the strip and has a large parking lot that has security. Decent buffet.

I stay at the Vagabond Inn because it's far away from the strip and you can park a semi in their parking lot (I don't have a semi but I have a lot of shit). Almost no amenities though.

I'm going to stay at this Super 8 Motel next. It seems like a better place than the VI.

I second the Atlantis.
Inexpensive, clean, relatively quiet. Not as confident of the buffet as the above poster though. -

Buffets so good you can eat there.
Thu, July 24, 2008 - 2:06 PMYou are right B! When I said decent Buffet. I'm putting it on the same expectant level as other buffets.
I've had okay buffet food at these places in order from best and so on: El Dorado, Peppermill and then Atlantis.
Though the Grand Sierra Resort is Burner Friendly, I think their buffet was inedible. I didn't like the Silver Legacy and Boomtown was the worst in Reno. The worst ever buffet was in a casino I ran into way south of Vegas.
If you want better food don't eat at the casinos. Don't expect fresh seafood in Reno.
