I've tried to make my own cooler, but my terra cotta proto-type was just too heavy and too fragile. When it broke I had to bury it so that no body would notice the red dust.

I'm not discouraging creativity and DIY....and there's a ton of cool stuff out there from people who've made their own. I'm just trying to say that it's not always Bad to just BUY some things sometimes (particularly when it's supporting Burner-owned or other small business interests). I put a lot of time and energy into creating my own costumes and other stuff....but some things, I don't bother reinventing the wheel-- it just makes more sense for me from a time-and-materials standpoint to just purchase something from someone who has it figured out. (Podbelt, bras, camelbak/backpack, etc.). I don't know anyone who makes their own tent or bicycle or cooler. Everyone has to draw their own line about what works for them.

http://people.tribe.net/r0ssypenguin/photos/b8b19b8c-b7eb-473b-83e1-36cc10e68d8b i made that with cargo pockets...and it works well to hold my stuff while working to set up camp etc...i also wear a fishing vest type thing...that has lots of pockets or this....it's sewed to a wide elastic belt...so it slips over naked skin....or any other "outfit", and has a large zipper pocket with secret inside pocket... http://reconstructedclothing.tribe.net/photos/b64f2585-d776-45b9-91fc-27577047f196 i've also taken a canvas belt...and sewn pockets to it.....D rings...etc...all from thriftstore finds..or free stuff. any sort of leather pouch that slips on a belt ......or old purse...cargo pockets, tool belt pocket attachements...etc... you can really customize something to your unique personal needs. alls it takes is some time, patience...and a little needle work.

I built my own "utility belt" out of military or fashion belts (depending on my fashion or practical needs) combined with canvas military pouches and hardware clips. I personalized my set up with fabric paint and markers.
