Concerns about the 08 man pavillion...

Ok so with the man standing on the top of a four story tower this year. It makes me wonder what they plan on doing if the man falls before the tower and everyone rushes it, then the four story tower falls on top of a bunch of burners? I know this last burn I was hit by late exploding fireworks as I ran around the burning fucker. I just think this year sounds a lot more dangerous. Any thoughts?

Watch what the folks in safety gear are doing - if they run for it, you should be way ahead of them.

If barefooted jokers run past the Rangers and then the Pyro Crew and PST at L2K (who are conspicuously in full turnout gear) - duh, fuck 'em. Only so much babysitting is possible.

Interesting question. They'll probably keep trying to maintain the perimeter till everything has fallen. It could be difficult to maintain the perimeter, and for the tower to fall could take a long time, I'm guessing.

Any mention of anything dangerous, no matter how it is stated, always leads to suggestions for Disneyland and ticket readiing. You know how Burners always love their fine print.I wonder what it says about danger on the back of a Disneyland ticket?

Structure collapse around the pavillion has been a concern each year.

    Last year...
...crazy half naked stoned firespinners swung fuel flaming tampons wildly at anything that moved...
.....fireworks blew up and spewed flaming heavy metals into the atmosphere...
...fear crazed dot com trust fund art car drivers blasted our ears with weird ass ooonsa oonsa music...
...a great heap of hydrocarbons ignited into a cataclysmic tetrahedon of flame...
...the big creosote telephone pole logs that made up the base were pulled down into an unstable pile of flaming debris,
....and a bunch of the pyrotech stuff didn't go off until the fire ignited them into the crowd...
.....the fire wasn't hot enough and so the crowd got too close and they were rowdy..
...they started pushing people into the hazard area..
....drunk people threw shit into the fire that exploded, and threw shrapnel all over the place..
....demons rose from the flames and anally raped three innocent bystanders....
....alcohol soaked naked drunken chicks fanned their pussy lips by the fire while frat boys furtively masturbated into their PBR cans....
... and unlit bike riders collided into wailing writhing orgies of oversexed, overstimulated masses...

    Fuck it was fun!

I was more nervous about how Homeland Security is going to arrest us all for burning all those flags!

Last time I looked burning a flag didn't make one a criminal, just an asshole. Being an asshole isn't illegal.

Im my opinion...I wish more people would get seriously hurt/die each year. It would help to curb the idea of burning man being "safe" and keep all of the stupid virgins from coming.

I don't know about you all, but I'm hopeing for a population decrease this year

Good point. Having been seriously injured elsewhere last year, I have to say I don't wish that on anyone. (well, maybe on people who say such ridiculous things. a little. Maybe.) And serious injuries or deaths do mentally and emotionally effect campmates, volenteers (i really wouldn't wish the year my husband went through after Kathy Lampman's death, or even the year I went through watching him and being his main support, on anyone), even innoscent people nearby, ala what Comfort and Joy went through last year. The more danger at burning man crowd really does say some dumb things.

As somebody who just got out of 6 mos physical therapy after an accident and as a friend of someone who broke his back literally working the event, I'm a little pissed and a lot disgusted by your asinine bullshit, Miss Holly.

Gotta go with Groucho on that.....

It's one thing to be amused by the boundaries of Darwinian thnking, but wishing for death and dismemberment?

                Sad.

You were born at the Burn? Or how did you manage to avoid being a virgin? Oh I get it, you were a SMART virgin! So it's just the stupid people you want to keep out. But then if there were no stupid people, where would you find a date?

          >I wish more people would get seriously hurt/die each year.<

As the new agers like to say "BE the change you wish to see in the world."

Fido, you couldn't have put that any better. Seriously, some good questions.
