Please. When in doubt and you have to choose between more thump thump and it's 7am on a Wens. morning - can someone slip in something classical? We have these monster sound systems and I'd love to hear some Vivaldi or Beehtoven or Mozart or Yo Yo Mama if any of the DJs would consider it, I'd be much obliged. Gracias. Spicey

Re: Request: I'd like to hear more classical music at Burning Man
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 9:59 AMare you implying a bigass sound system in the middle of the desert is wasted when it is only playing dance music?!
.......where is the '7 days and 7 nights of world war two battle sounds camp' ? or the 'twenty four seven ocean waves crashing on the shore and birds talking at extreme loud volume camp'
.yeah! i would LOVE to hear more than the dance music i hear out there but I would also like to see a lot more expansion on this idea of LARGE SCALE SOUND as art idea.... music is only a small part of sound.
maybe a moment of silence would be nice
maybe a large scale collaboration between as many 'large scale' systems as possible creating one single interesting interactive flowing series of sound or song..... standing at the man might make for some interesting stereo situations..
how about the call to prayer
how about church bells at every hour
qawwalli camp ?
100% rick james 24/7 camp?
or something else... -

Re: Request: I'd like to hear more classical music at Burning Man
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 10:47 AMI think there are a few good ideas in this thread! I love dance music, but also appreciate variety. One of my favorite morning experiences is going to Pancake Playhouse and chowing & chilling to The Beatles White Album or something like that.
If not classical, I also love the idea of hearing waves crashing in the desert. A soothing aural balm to make the oonsa oonsa a more welcome contrast at night.
