Re: DIY Burning Man Skyview mashed into Virtual Earth
Thu, September 13, 2007 - 10:34 PMI'm still playing with this new toy...so no, I haven't figured it out yet. Wait for the tiles to load is all I can say...and don't forget to click on the 3D part.
This is sooo cool. Do you see the water truck trail at 2:00? -

Re: DIY Burning Man Skyview mashed into Virtual Earth
Fri, September 14, 2007 - 8:45 AMHey LF, You just need to zoom out and drag and drop a little to your right. Follow the train tracks. Like I said, depending on your connection speed, you'll need to wait for the tiles to load.

Fri, September 14, 2007 - 10:37 AMOH!! That is awesome!! I can make out the layout of our camp! Looks like it was taken this year! -

Re: DIY Burning Man Skyview mashed into Virtual Earth
Fri, September 14, 2007 - 12:38 PMgiven the position of the sun, and the configuration of the Man (as can be made out by his shadow), and the number of people at Opulent Temple, I estimate that this was taken early Saturday morning, day of the Burn. -

Re: DIY Burning Man Skyview mashed into Virtual Earth
Fri, September 14, 2007 - 2:25 PMI disagree only cause when I look at my camp some of my camp mates had not yet arrived. My guess is Monday.
Makes me wonder how we can find out. -

Re: DIY Burning Man Skyview mashed into Virtual Earth
Sat, September 15, 2007 - 1:13 AMRichard, you were right. According to the photographer, it was indeed taken on Saturday. And what I just realized is that my camp mates left on Friday, so now it makes more sense for me. -

Re: DIY Burning Man Skyview mashed into Virtual Earth
Sat, September 15, 2007 - 1:54 PMYep this year... was able to make out the yellow tent of the free lemonade stand on a diagonal from our site and the green dragon art car across the street from us... very cool indeed!

Re: DIY Burning Man Skyview mashed into Virtual Earth
Wed, October 3, 2007 - 8:54 AMAre there any other images that get closer?
I can't see my camps highly debated "fence" that we <gasp> :o put around our private tent area.
I'm looking for photos of 8:00 & A.
Thanks. -

Re: DIY Burning Man Skyview mashed into Virtual Earth
Wed, October 3, 2007 - 9:18 AMFence?
Of course not!
But as an apparently acceptable alternative arrange a ring of vehicles to enclose your space (eg see the RVs at 3:10 & H on this map). -

Re: DIY Burning Man Skyview mashed into Virtual Earth
Wed, October 3, 2007 - 9:33 AMyea, we had a "parking lot" instead in the middle of our village.
we had a L shaped pretty orange fence so that people wouldn't use our "private tenting" area as a cut through.
villagers had to <gasp!> step 3-4 feet out of their way to get around it to the alley/lane/path that separated my camp from another camp within the village.
i'm looking for a closer image to demonstrate where the path was.

Re: DIY Burning Man Skyview mashed into Virtual Earth
Wed, October 3, 2007 - 9:38 AMdefinately taken after friday, as our pyramid is a pile of ashes in the photo, and it was burned on friday night.
